DE-CIX Africa

Building connectivity to and within Africa

Africa is the continent of 10 of the world's top 20 fastest-growing countries and where international bandwidth has more than doubled over the last four years. Together with local partners, DE-CIX is establishing Internet Exchanges in Africa, with the aim to increase the access and quality of Internet on the continent by improving local infrastructure and bringing content and applications closer to the businesses and end users.

As a first step on the continent, we have established strategic partnerships with digital infrastructure operators in 3 strategic markets: the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Libya, and Nigeria. We are planning to open more locations on the African continent in the near future.

Nigeria

Nigeria is the most populous country and strongest economy in Africa and Lagos, the biggest city in the country is already a major strategic interconnection hub for the continent. It offers a robust local interconnection infrastructure to serve a growing domestic demand closer to the end users. With six international submarine cables landing in the city and two more expected by 2023, Nigeria is well positioned on the West Coast of Africa. Contact us to find out more.
