IX-API: Simplify your IX services

Together with AMS-IX and LINX, we have developed IX-API, an interface for provisioning services at multiple Internet Exchanges. IX-API supports fully end-to-end automated processes and enables networks to configure, change, and cancel IX services. It was developed to assist our customers' demand for faster planning and deployment of infrastructure. We are certain that this is the future of interconnection, and we are proud to be part of developing an industry standard for network interconnection. IX-API is already implemented at these three IXs, and additional Internet Exchanges are in the process of implementing it.

The future of interconnection: Automation

IX-API leads to a variety of benefits for Internet Exchange customers as well as for Internet Exchanges themselves. It reduces the time for configuring, changing and cancelling services from days to minutes. The API is available 24/7/365 and it requires less cost and effort per transaction. IX-API offers increased transparency and by offering one single API language for multiple Internet Exchanges, implementation costs are reduced to a minimum.

IX-API was tested with positive results by a common member of the three founding Internet Exchanges, Epsilon, and by data center partner Interxion.

We make interconnection easy

DE-CIX strives continuously to make interconnection easy, and IX-API is the next step on our way into the future of interconnection. Automated provisioning, as well as automated changing and ordering of IX services, will be the future at Internet Exchanges, and we are proud to be part of developing an industry standard for this. Our commitment to make interconnection easy has driven us not only to develop an API but also to join forces and collaborate with other IXs in order to create an industry standard that will simplify IX services in general.

In due course, the functionality of the IX-API will be available for DE-CIX customers in the new DE-CIX customer portal, offering a user interface for automated provisioning and changing IX services, making interconnection easy.
