Wolfsburg-based telecommunications company builds digital bridges to Frankfurt's Internet Exchange: WOBCOM becomes new DE-CIX DirectCLOUD partner

Frankfurt am Main, 1 October 2020: The Wolfsburg telecommunications company WOBCOM has become a new partner of the world’s leading Internet Exchange operator DE-CIX. With immediate effect, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Stadtwerke Wolfsburg AG group of companies will market the DE-CIX DirectCLOUD products, thus opening up access to one of the most important and largest Internet Exchanges in the world, DE-CIX in Frankfurt. Through its partnership with DE-CIX, WOBCOM enables its business customers access to over 50 cloud providers, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and IBM Bluemix. DE-CIX DirectCLOUD offers its customers private, secure and stable easy access to the DE-CIX Cloud Exchange – by a VLAN connection.

“Our Internet service provider and data center partners – such as WOBCOM – are essential for the expansion strategy of the DirectCLOUD portfolio, as they make the Cloud Exchange available to connected business customers both within and outside the major metro regions. The comprehensive partner ecosystem strongly differentiates DirectCLOUD from the competition,” says Harald Kriener, Director Business Development Cloud Services at DE-CIX.

“We are delighted about the new partnership with DE-CIX and the resulting business opportunities for our region. Already today, our business customers can, for example, benefit from direct access to the large clouds,” comments Dr. Frank Kästner, Managing Director of WOBCOM, on the partnership.
