Blackholing route server FAQ
The Blackholing route server (rsbh) is available at DE-CIX Frankfurt and in Dubai.
No. Please accept all Blackholes from the Blackholing route server for the service to work correctly. This includes IPv4 prefixes up to /32 and IPv6 prefixes up to /128.
The Blackholing route server will only announce Blackholes (i.e. prefixes blackholed by other peers).
No. If you peer with the Blackholing route server in Frankfurt, you can keep your existing filters in place and allow up to /32 (IPv4) and to /128 (IPv6) on the Blackholing route server sessions.
This is a safety measure as omitting to do so would otherwise result in immediate blackholing of all your (maybe accidentally) announced prefixes.
Please note that announcing a prefix to both rs1/rs2 and rsbh will result in blackholing of this prefix if the BLACKHOLE Community and/or Blackholing next-hop is set on the session towards rsbh.
No. All route servers automatically exchange Blackholes with each other. However, the preferred way is to only announce Blackholes to rsbh.
